Chai Spiced Smoothie Recipe

I took the breakfast challenge on Monday. Now I’m going to show you my favorite way to use the Whole Food powder, in my preferred flavor, Vanilla Chai. Of course you can still make this smoothie if you don’t have the Vega powder, just use your favorite vanilla protein powder in place of it. This smoothie has everything I love about a creamy almond-milk latte, with a whole lot of nutrition added to it, making it an ideal breakfast.

Chai lattes have been my signature Starbucks order since high school. There’s just something about that spicy-sweet flavor component, paired with creamy, frothy milk (home-brought almond milk, nowadays) that makes me feel all warm and cozy. It’s comfort food for me, a big ol’ grande chai latte.

So with this smoothie, I paired some freshly brewed chai tea along with a banana for sweetness, some almond milk for that required creaminess and a whole lot of spice to make my latest favorite breakfast. I’ve had it twice in three days, already! The best part about it is it’s an all-weather kind of smoothie. Use a frozen banana and cool tea if you want it icy cold, use hot tea and a fresh banana if you want a hot latte-like drink.

Creamy Chai Spiced Smoothie
Serves 1

1 banana, frozen if you want a cooler smoothie
1 scoop/packet Vega Whole Foods Health Optimizer Vanilla Chai flavor (or your favorite vanilla protein powder)
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp maca powder
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp sunflower lecithin (optional; makes it super creamy)
pinch stevia extract
large handful spinach
1/4 cup strong brewed chai tea, cooled slightly
splash almond milk

1. Place all in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
